Unveiling the Potential of Lego Serious Play

Lego Serious Play but I had good fun

Recently, I and my coursemates had a workshop in Lego Serious Play session hosted by my Creative Thinking lecturer, Dr. Sophie, and aided by invited Lecturer Janja Song. This unique workshop explored the realm of using Lego bricks not just for play but as powerful tools for education, idea-building, and team collaboration.

We were asked to make various items. Starting with a duck. I like my duck …. Lol! But it was not about making the perfect duck but something deeper and we progressed to various other Lego builds built on more emphatical and psychological themes.

The workshop provided a unique space to explore ideas in a three-dimensional, tangible way. Using Lego bricks, I found a new way to express complex concepts and express my thoughts visually. It was a refreshing departure from traditional brainstorming methods, allowing for a more deeper way to explore how to think and create ideas.

What stood out during the session was the emphasis on teamwork and explanation. Your team explaining what they created and trying to understand where they are coming from. As we collaboratively built with Lego blocks, we discovered the power of collective creativity. The shared experience fostered a sense of unity and cohesion within the group, reinforcing the idea that sometimes, the best solutions emerge through collaborative efforts.

Personally, the most rewarding part of the workshop was using Lego to build and represent emotions. It was a satisfying exercise that allowed me to visually construct my feelings, offering a unique perspective on self-expression. The simplicity of Lego blocks became a powerful medium for reflection and emotional discovery.

Leaving the session, I felt a renewed enthusiasm for the potential of Lego Serious Play. The workshop not only equipped me with new tools for the future but also left me with a sense of joy and accomplishment. I'm eager to incorporate these techniques into my projects, workshops, and working life.
