My Contribution to the Group. New Insight and discoveries.

In November 2024 when our product and prototype lecturer Brian gave us our assignment to form a podcast group, I was very excited at the same time quite nervous but very curious as this was a first for me delving into this creative industry format which happens to be if the popular form of media, reaching out to audiences through the power of audio.

The class was given the freedom to select persons to form their groups and Brian said this is something we should do on our own as he wasn't going to select the groups for us. I can say that I was very happy that I found a group of very talented creative and spontaneous persons.

Me (Donna), Harsh, Maggie, Anoushka, Maia, and Razan came together to form a group.

If I must say a very exciting and dynamic group. From the get-go, we assembled ourselves at the school cafeteria. We decided on fluid roles. Everyone would play and contribute whatever talent or skill they could bring to the assignment.

I decided that I would like to have a directorial sort of role and work around the audio and some of the video editing side of things. I worked side by side with the team especially Harsh on the audio side of the podcast and the recordings. And Anushka, Maia, and Razan decided to handle the Branding aspect. with Maggie also helping with the Branding and the website with Maia. Even though we decided there wouldn’t be any lead figure in our group.

Each one of us came up with topics close to our hearts and backgrounds relating it our creativity.

Our contributions were assembled in Miro. We started dropping our name suggestion around December.

We decided to call our Group the Mind and Mic Podcast. With the tagline.  “6 Creatives, 1 Podcast”. I came up with that payoff.

I came up with the idea of interviewing one of the lecturers from my pre-masters course ‘Rachel Sheila Kan.' This was also supported by Razan and we titled it, 'Collaboration & Circularity in the Creative Industry.'

This was my conversation with Rachel Kan. Requesting if she would be interested in being interviewed for our podcast.

The podcast topic on collaboration and secularity in the creative industry which was one of the topics I brought about to be included in one of our episodes is very close to my heart because it deals sweet having a balance in the creative industry, especially in terms of fashion and it's wasteful culture reason why I was happy to reach out to Rachel Sheila can. I reached out to her through my WhatsApp and asked if she would like to be part of our podcast episode on this topic and she gladly accepted which was a big deal for me.

After some recordings were done, I edited some videos that we could use on our social media page.

Setting up with the team and having fun at the same time.

I edited the final recordings of the various episodes in Adobe Audition. Music was Background music was taken from the free music download site 'Pixabay,' and the AI voice-over was done with Speecify. For introduction and exit speech.

Trust the Process

Working in a group requires a lot of patience understanding and trusting your companions is a must. Each one brings their talents to the group and working towards excelling is the goal. I am glad that I contributed my skills to the best of my capacity to the podcast assignment.

The Mind and Mic podcast group is proof that collaboration pays off. Each team member brought in their creative skills and precious time.

The podcast assignment has grown to show that I should not limit myself to a certain box. I have discovered that there is more in my creativity and character and I'm hoping to build on this for the future of both my personal and professional life.
